Lead Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview: The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for guiding and overseeing the engineering team, ensuring the successful execution of engineering projects and initiatives. This role emphasizes continuous improvement across various engineering disciplines and requires making significant decisions that influence project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage a diverse team of Engineers, Designers, and Technicians across multiple engineering sectors.
- Strategically plan and coordinate product and business strategies to align with organizational objectives.
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team leaders, focusing on workforce planning, resource allocation, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee departmental budgets, forecast operational costs, and prepare budget requests.
- Maintain high-level P&L accountability for the product line.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to achieve strategic goals.
- Effectively communicate and defend technical engineering decisions to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish engineering goals and strategic plans for the team.
- Research and advocate for new technologies and products that can enhance business operations.
- Identify innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
- Act as a key influencer in technical decisions regarding new technologies.
- Participate in the establishment of the technical baseline and vision for engineering.
- Lead the transformation towards modern development, integration, and testing methodologies.
- Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve intricate technical issues, delivering innovative solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers at all levels.
- Engage in the budgeting process, recommending capital improvements and preparing necessary justification data.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in the modern agricultural industry.
- Knowledge of agricultural equipment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive mechanical knowledge of heavy-vehicle equipment and associated systems.
- Familiarity with high-level CAD systems.
