Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager - Asphalt Manufacturing to join our team at CRH. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supporting the management of all aspects of the asphalt manufacturing process while maintaining a sustainable safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Asphalt Manufacturing Operations: Assist HMA management with asphalt manufacturing operations, including planning, directing, and coordinating activities to achieve total asphalt objectives.
  • Operations Planning: Partner with HMA management to develop operations plans and direct overall activities to ensure efficient and effective asphalt production.
  • Field Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate field reporting to support operational decision-making.
  • Customer Scheduling: Ensure all internal and external customers are scheduled in a timely manner without delay.
  • Production Planning: Support HMA management with production planning, staffing, and maintenance as required.
  • Team Leadership: Direct (through subordinate forepersons) activities of production department to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
  • Compliance: Enforce compliance of production personnel with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
  • Training and Development: Identify personnel training and development opportunities and assist with developmental goal setting.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with HMA management and other business units to streamline work process efficiencies.
  • Financial Management: Support HMA management with the review, analysis, planning, and/or preparation of financial and operational reports, budgets, requisition approvals, purchase approvals, capital expenditures, and inventory.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure quality standards are met.
  • Safety and Productivity: Promote a safe and productive working environment and a sustainable safety culture.
  • Customer Service: Provide world-class customer service.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Climbing and Balancing: Frequently required to climb or balance.
  • Sitting and Stooping: Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lifting and Moving: Regularly required to lift and/or move more than 10 pounds.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions, airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold.
