Role Overview:
As a Family Support Services Consultant, you will provide in-home support to children and their families, employing a skill-based and solution-oriented approach to facilitate positive change. Your expertise will help families navigate challenges by imparting essential skills and behavioral techniques while connecting them with community resources and support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver intervention services: Establish and nurture effective relationships with families and community service providers, including healthcare professionals, legal representatives, and educational staff, ensuring a collaborative approach to service delivery.
  • Conduct assessments: Screen and evaluate families to determine eligibility for programs and identify key areas for development in service plans.
  • Provide training: Equip families with functional skills necessary for addressing their challenges and enhancing their well-being.
  • Monitor progress: Regularly assess family and individual progress towards established goals, adjusting service plans as needed.
  • Engage in outreach: Promote community awareness and deliver educational programs aimed at supporting youth and families.
  • Maintain contact: Ensure consistent communication with families, being available for crisis intervention as required.
  • Educate stakeholders: Offer training to school personnel and others involved with children on managing challenging behaviors.
  • Facilitate access to resources: Assist families in identifying and utilizing community services that promote self-determination.
  • Promote health education: Inform families about the importance of physical health, quality medical care, and preventive health practices.
  • Support spiritual growth: Help families leverage their spiritual beliefs as a source of strength in achieving their goals.
  • Exhibit professionalism: Model respectful behavior and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Travel for meetings: Meet families at various locations, utilizing personal transportation as needed.

Administrative Duties:

  • Documentation: Prepare and submit reports regarding case load status, budget requests, and any significant incidents.
  • Incident reporting: Adhere to standard guidelines for reporting critical incidents involving families or staff.
  • Service plan management: Ensure timely preparation of documentation and service plans as per program requirements.
  • Feedback implementation: Act on feedback provided by supervisors to enhance service delivery.
  • Compliance assurance: Maintain adherence to all relevant contractual, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Professional updates: Inform supervisors of any changes in professional status that may impact job performance.
  • Training opportunities: May receive training to become a certified instructor for parenting courses.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent experience as specified by state requirements.
  • At least one year of experience working with children and families.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to provide personal transportation for job-related travel.
  • Availability for crisis response outside of traditional business hours.
  • Bilingual skills may be preferred based on business needs.
  • Certification or licensure may be required based on location and contractual obligations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in community-based programs or with Boys Town initiatives is highly regarded.
