Position: Heavy Equipment Technician
Location: Columbus, OH

Compensation:
$25.22 to $27.66 per hour, depending on experience.

Job Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician will possess a solid understanding of air brake systems, diesel engine diagnostics utilizing advanced tools, hydraulic systems, electronic controls, electrical circuitry, schematics, and foundational diesel engine repair knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to a systematic checklist for inspection procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and machinery.
  • Conduct test drives to identify malfunctions.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results from specialized equipment.
  • Utilize hydraulic jacks or hoists to elevate trucks and heavy components.
  • Examine brake systems, steering mechanisms, transmissions, engines, and other vehicle parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication of parts.
  • Adjust and align wheels, secure bolts and screws, and connect system components.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Open availability for shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to work in diverse weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Possession of personal tools for light to medium repairs.
  • Experience in maintaining heavy equipment within the Construction, Transportation, or Intermodal sectors.
  • Familiarity with Mi-Jack or Taylor brands is advantageous.
  • Document repairs accurately according to established reporting protocols.
  • Perform light welding as necessary.
  • Complete other assigned duties as required.
  • Willingness to undergo a drug screening, physical examination, and background check.
