Our client, a dynamic and expanding entity in the real estate investment sector, is seeking a Financial Operations Manager with a robust background in asset management and a proactive mindset to enhance their team.

LOCATION:

Remote position with flexible work arrangements.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This role demands a professional with comprehensive financial and accounting expertise, particularly in commercial real estate and fund management, along with proficiency in fair value financial reporting. The selected candidate will be expected to operate autonomously and swiftly take on the responsibilities associated with this role. Collaboration with the CFO and fund administration on various property and fund-related issues will be essential. The position reports directly to the CFO.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monthly Financial Oversight: Evaluate GAAP-compliant financial statements for each Fund's real estate assets, conduct budget versus actual variance analysis, and monitor property cash flows, ensuring all critical financial elements are appropriately managed.
  • Quarterly Investor Reporting: Collaborate with the fund administrator to review GAAP-compliant quarterly reports for investors, adhering to the guidelines established in the partnership agreement, including expense management, allocations, and waterfall calculations.
  • Performance Analysis: Prepare and scrutinize various Fund and property-level performance metrics; discuss findings with the CFO and the Executive Team, and assist in financial forecasting, modeling, and sensitivity assessments.
  • Valuation Support: Aid in the quarterly valuation process.
  • Accounting Issue Resolution: Identify and research accounting challenges; consult with audit firms to determine appropriate treatment.
  • Management Fee Calculation: Calculate and oversee management fees.
  • Capital Management: Supervise capital calls, distributions, and carry calculations for the Funds and co-investments.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash flow and credit facility loan draw requests, ensuring compliance with related obligations.
  • Expense Management: Review and process expense reports and invoices for the management company.
  • Audit and Tax Compliance: Oversee year-end audits and tax compliance, coordinating with fund administrators, auditors, and tax preparers, and managing all phases of the annual financial audit.
  • SEC Compliance: Assist in preparing SEC compliance reports and other internal documentation as needed.
  • Partner Relations: Interface with operating partners managing day-to-day property operations.
  • LP Engagement: Address Limited Partners' audit, reporting, and diligence inquiries.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as directed by the Firm's Principals and CFO, with the understanding that this list is not exhaustive and may evolve over time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in fund accounting, with a preference for real estate finance.
  • Strong foundation in GAAP accounting, including fair value accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Office and QuickBooks, with a capacity to quickly learn new accounting and reporting software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively with small teams and external service providers.
  • Committed to delivering high-quality work and exercising sound judgment with integrity.
  • Thorough and patient in handling details and procedures.
