As a Controller at REDF, you will play a critical role in overseeing our financial operations and ensuring that we are meeting our financial goals. You will work closely with our Chief Financial Administrative Officer and other senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies that drive our organization's success.

We're looking for someone who is a strong leader and a skilled financial professional. You will be responsible for managing our financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations, as well as supervising and developing our accounting and finance team.

The Role

The Controller will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports
  • Monitoring and analyzing financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve financial health and achieve organizational goals
  • Ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, including IRS, federal, state, and local regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations
  • Managing the annual audit process and funder audits, working closely with external auditors and ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Supervising and providing strategic guidance to the Senior Manager of Accounting and Compliance, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day accounting operations
  • Developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and safeguard organizational assets
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with 3+ years of prior Controller and people management experience
  • Experience in non-profit accounting and public funding management preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or relevant experience, is required. CPA preferred
  • Experience managing accounting and financial management systems is required
  • Advanced skills with Excel, and strong competency with the Microsoft suite of products
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical financial management
