Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assembly and testing of components for locomotive engines.
  • Exhibit proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and welding tasks.
  • Interpret schematics and blueprints, while performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the workspace.
  • Adhere to verbal and written instructions, standards, and quality work instructions consistently and safely.
Advanced Responsibilities:
  • Assemble parts and components for locomotive alternators.
  • Secure sub-assembly components using various fasteners.
  • Install and route electrical wiring harnesses and hydraulic lines.
  • Prepare engines for testing by filling with necessary fluids.
  • Operate engine testing equipment and conduct pressure decay tests as required.
  • Diagnose and rectify malfunctions in engines and components to meet quality benchmarks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, including checking oil levels and air pressures.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and part quality discrepancies.
  • Prepare units for painting by power washing and checking for leaks.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including vocational training.
  • Certification in forklift and crane operation.
  • Possession of two or more technical certifications is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry tasks.
  • Experience with industrial equipment and mechanics.
  • Ability to read and understand complex instructions and technical documents.
  • Familiarity with industrial painting systems and various coatings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
