Job Summary

Sterling Engineering Inc. is seeking a skilled Production Mechanic to join our team in Winston Salem, NC. As a Production Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing assembly operations using standard work documents, blueprints, and visual aids within Takt time. This role requires extensive problem-solving skills to properly assess and compensate for variations due to incoming part quality, process variations, process changes, engineering changes, and part shortages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality inspections and chart quality data
  • Monitor quality trends and identify areas for improvement
  • Perform maintenance on engines in the engine shop as required
  • Use mechanic's hand tools, precision measuring instruments, gauges, test equipment, hoists, and work platforms
  • Conduct tests on heavy-duty diesel engines using a dynamometer cell and test automation software
  • Prepare engines for dynamometer cell testing, including replacing components and installing measurement artifacts
  • Transport heavy loads with crane, power pusher, or electric pallet jack
  • Drive 5S adherence and complete 5S audits
  • Cross-train and ensure that operator training is conducted in a timely fashion
Requirements
  • Diesel engine repair/rebuild certification or 5 years of practical experience
  • High school diploma/GED or technical certification
  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office and Data Acquisition software proficiency desired
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronic engine systems
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Certified Rigging Trained
