Job Summary:

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs various laboratory testing procedures, including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases. S/he recognizes appropriate and inappropriate selection of lab tests and correlates lab results to patients clinical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing according to laboratory procedures.
  • Conducts quality control and quality assurance activities, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Processes specimens and enters results into computer systems.
  • Provides technical support and assistance to laboratory customers.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and test method evaluations.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in a laboratory science or meets qualifications in CLIA.
  • Medical Lab Technician Certificate within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year recent clinical laboratory experience as an MLT.
  • Certified as an MLT preferred by date of hire/transfer.
