Medical Laboratory Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
As a Phlebotomy Specialist at Providence Health & Service, you will be responsible for the collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick, as well as the preparation and shipping of lab specimens for reference laboratories. You will also be responsible for specimen and patient registration, and will work closely with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely results.
Additional Responsibilities:
You will also be responsible for dispatch functions, including the collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens, for-cause drug screens, and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT). Additionally, you will be required to perform EKGs and provide respectful and patient communications with patients, clients, and other lab staff.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a completion of an approved phlebotomy or medical assistance program, meeting the requirements to be licensed as a MA-P or MA-C in WA State. You will also need to have Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire, as well as six (6) months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program.
