A competitive salary range for this role is $66,259 - $70,295.
The posted UC academic salary scales establish the minimum compensation determined by rank and/or step at appointment. Refer to the salary scale table for this position.

The Department of Literature within the School of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego is dedicated to fostering academic excellence and diversity among faculty, staff, and students. We invite applications for Temporary Lecturer(s) in Creative Writing for the upcoming academic year. The successful candidate(s) will possess expertise in instructing various disciplines and genres of creative writing, which may include Fiction Writing, Poetry Writing, Creative Nonfiction Writing, Screenwriting, and Speculative Fiction Writing.
Appointments may be part-time or full-time, ranging from one quarter to one year in duration.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications (required at time of application)
Successful applicants must:
- hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing
- demonstrate exceptional teaching experience (minimum of 2 years at the college level) in at least three of the following genres/areas: Fiction Writing, Poetry Writing, Creative Nonfiction Writing, Screenwriting, and Speculative Fiction Writing.
- have publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Proven outstanding teaching experience in more than three of the following genres/areas: Fiction Writing, Poetry Writing, Creative Nonfiction Writing, Screenwriting, and Speculative Fiction Writing.
- One or more published books in the aforementioned genres.
- A commitment to and demonstration of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as evidenced in cover letter, CV, syllabi, evaluations, interview, and Statement of Contributions to Diversity.
