Program Overview:
Focus: SAT Exam Preparation
Students enrolled in our program will have the unique opportunity to engage in focused SAT preparation, free from the distractions of regular school commitments. Participants will benefit from over 35 hours of instruction, complemented by three full-length practice SAT exams during the course of the program. This intensive experience is designed to equip students with essential skills and strategies for SAT success, including advanced grammar, mathematics, and critical reading techniques. Our seasoned instructors utilize a proven SAT curriculum that covers all facets of the exam, emphasizing effective test-taking strategies and analytical skills rather than relying solely on shortcuts. Historically, our SAT students have achieved average score improvements of nearly 200 points, utilizing authentic College Board materials to ensure a genuine test experience.
Instructor Responsibilities:
The primary role of the SAT or PSAT Instructor is to facilitate the Education Unlimited SAT curriculum in a classroom environment, motivating and encouraging students to enhance their test-taking skills. Instructors should possess a thorough understanding of the exam content and be passionate about fostering student success. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, conducting class activities, providing individualized tutoring, and supervising practice exams. Instructors will also track student progress and submit necessary reports to the camp director.
To ensure personalized attention, class sizes are intentionally kept small, averaging 10 students. In addition to teaching, instructors will offer one-on-one feedback sessions as needed, maintaining a supportive learning atmosphere.
Additional Duties for On-Campus Instructors:
Beyond teaching, on-campus instructors are expected to assist the camp director with supervision, recreational activities, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates will demonstrate maturity, reliability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues. Instructors will also serve as mentors, guiding students during excursions and ensuring their health and safety while fulfilling educational objectives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in writing instruction and college counseling, along with strong classroom management skills. Key qualifications include:
- 3+ years of experience in college counseling for high school students
- 3+ years of experience teaching writing at the high school or college level
- Recent knowledge of college admissions processes
- Master's Degree
- Professional demeanor and calm presence
- Willingness to work extended hours
- Self-motivated with strong follow-through
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for education and writing
