Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer Position

Riverside Research is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing research and development within the national security domain. We are seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer who possesses expertise in the design of Military Standard Electro Optical Systems. This position entails the development of robust enclosures and the assurance of environmental durability for Electro Optical systems utilized in demanding military settings.

  • Engage in the mechanical design and advancement of Military Standard Electro Optical Systems, with a focus on enclosure architecture and environmental safeguarding.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and interdisciplinary teams to comprehend system requirements and specifications.
  • Produce comprehensive designs, drawings, and specifications for ruggedized enclosures and system components utilizing CAD software.
  • Participate in environmental assessments and testing to ensure adherence to military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810).
  • Contribute innovative solutions for thermal management, shock and vibration reduction, and electromagnetic interference shielding.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to facilitate prototype development and production of enclosure components.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering with familiarity in Military Standard Electro Optical Systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Pro/ENGINEER.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing methodologies.
  • Interest in environmental testing standards and protocols.
  • A collaborative approach, strong problem-solving capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.

Compensation Package:

$140,000 - $160,000 annually
