Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accurately registers patients and inputs their details into the system, ensuring a respectful and confidential interaction with each individual.
  2. Confirms that patient consent forms are signed, documents Medicare messages (if relevant), and completes the Medicare Questionnaire as necessary, while providing patients with essential information regarding their rights and payment policies.
  3. Facilitates the establishment of payment plans for patients in line with the organization’s guidelines.
  4. Assists patients in filling out financial assistance applications.
  5. Manages the transfer and discharge processes for patients appropriately.
  6. Reviews and verifies incomplete Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) forms daily, following up with the relevant clerks.
  7. Handles incoming calls through the switchboard, directing them to the appropriate departments within the facility.
  8. Addresses patient inquiries concerning their accounts, aiding them in consolidating accounts and arranging payment plans.
  9. Processes payments via cash, check, or credit card, both in-person and over the phone.
  10. Ensures compliance with current infection control protocols for patients and visitors.
  11. Maintains a safe environment that meets the standards set by governing bodies.
  12. Utilizes patient safety tools to uphold the safety of both patients and staff.
  13. Regular attendance at the designated work location is mandatory.
  14. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  1. Basic literacy and numeracy skills, along with computer proficiency typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be at least 19 years old to sign legal documents.
  3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various reports and regulations, while providing excellent customer service.
  4. Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required within six months of employment.
  5. Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  6. Ability to independently solve problems using analytical and logical reasoning.
  7. Proficient in preparing professional reports and correspondence.
  8. Capable of responding promptly to inquiries and complaints from patients and regulatory agencies.
  9. Effective communication skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  10. Ability to organize and present information clearly and respond to questions from various groups.
  11. Completion of required training in standard precaution protocols is essential.
Work Environment:
  1. Operates in a standard office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or temperature variations.
  2. Spends a significant portion of time at a desk, requiring fine motor skills and the ability to lift and transport boxes weighing up to 36 pounds.
