Emergency Medical Services Program Manager

Location: East Portland, OR

Salary: $69,000/year

Specialized Recruiting Group is in search of a committed and knowledgeable Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program Manager. This position presents a unique opportunity to lead program operations, guarantee educational excellence, and foster essential inter-agency collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee daily operations and educational standards of the EMS Program.
  • Ensure adherence to state health department regulations for EMS certification.
  • Handle administrative functions (correspondence, documentation, scheduling, coordination) and uphold program accreditation.
  • Serve as the primary contact for local emergency services and educational institutions.
  • Coordinate clinical training experiences with partner organizations and verify that course candidates fulfill prerequisites.
  • Establish industry connections, develop student handbooks, course outlines, assessments, and examinations.
  • Organize and supervise a team of educators, addressing issues and providing guidance as necessary.
  • Monitor instructor qualifications, conduct annual EMS Evaluator training, and represent the program at community events.
  • Manage the recruitment, hiring, and separation processes for instructors, stepping in as a lecturer or lab instructor when required.

Program Liaison Duties:

  • Maintain collaborative agreements with local emergency medical services and educational institutions.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of agreements and policies.
  • Facilitate communication between the EMS program and clinical sites regarding student and staff conduct.
  • Engage in Advisory Committee meetings and community health initiatives.
  • Perform annual assessments of program outcomes.

Recruitment and Program Development Duties:

  • Recruit and interview a diverse pool of instructors from local agencies to enhance program diversity and provide students with networking opportunities.
  • Participate in bi-monthly council meetings to present program metrics, including certification pass rates, graduation statistics, and employment outcomes.
  • Engage in EMS Education workshops and collaborate with other Senior EMS Instructors on system enhancements.
  • Oversee program development and maintain the Senior EMS Instructor credential, including ongoing training, monitoring of instructor candidates, and coordination of initial EMS courses.

Qualifications:

  • Senior EMS Instructor (SEI) Certification required (Must have completed or be in the process of completing certification).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification.
  • BLS CPR Instructor Certification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic with a private ambulance service or a fire department.
