Job Summary

This is a challenging opportunity to work as a Hydrologic Technician with the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a Hydrologic Technician, you will be responsible for collecting and analyzing hydrologic data, conducting field measurements, and maintaining and servicing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze hydrologic data, including stage and discharge measurements, groundwater levels, and crest stage gages.
  • Conduct field measurements under various conditions, including extreme heat or cold, rain or snow, and hazardous conditions such as ice or flooding.
  • Maintain and service equipment, including sensing, recording, and communications equipment and instrumentation.
  • Install and configure equipment, including well-recorders and other instruments for the collection of ground and surface water data.
  • Compile and analyze data, including making technical studies of hydrologic data and preparing material for publication.
Requirements
  • Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Applicants must have a valid State license and a safe driving record.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service that is in or related to the duties of this position.
Working Conditions

The work environment may include extreme heat or cold, rain or snow, and hazardous conditions such as ice or flooding. Work may require the use of personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, respirators, or life jackets.
