About the Role:
In this position, you will engage in a variety of tasks, primarily focusing on peptide and small molecule solid-phase organic synthesis, including HF cleavage reactions. You will also be responsible for RP-HPLC purification and conducting analytical characterizations such as analytical RP-HPLC and HR-Mass Spec analysis.
Lab Management Responsibilities:
Your duties will include ordering supplies and chemicals, maintaining accurate records, managing chemical inventory, and ensuring the organization of the laboratory. You will prepare for inspections and verify the availability of lab stock solutions and general supplies. Additionally, you will oversee equipment checks and maintain the functionality of laboratory equipment.
Participation in meetings and collaboration with team members will also be part of your role.
Technical Writing and Reporting:
You will assist in the preparation of technical reports and articles for publication. This includes maintaining laboratory records, providing weekly updates, preparing reports, and presenting findings. Collaboration with technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows will be essential, along with reviewing relevant literature as assigned.
Salary: $35,000 - $40,000; based on qualifications, skills, and experience.

Required:
A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience totaling four years. Your undergraduate coursework should include General and Organic Chemistry with laboratory components.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, are essential. You should be capable of working independently, demonstrating reliability and self-motivation. Meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment is crucial, as is having a keen attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Preferred:
Experience in laboratory settings performing solid-phase synthesis (SPS) and RP-HPLC purification is advantageous.
About the Department:
The Medicinal Chemistry department comprises a diverse group of faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research scientists engaged in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of chemistry and biology. This department is part of the College of Pharmacy and University health sciences, which hosts renowned programs in biochemistry, neuroscience, pharmacology, virology, immunology, cancer biology, structural biology, and drug delivery.
Medicinal Chemistry is a vibrant scientific discipline dedicated to enhancing human health through research that leads to the development of safe and effective therapeutic, diagnostic, and environmental agents.
The Graduate Program has been awarding PhD degrees for over seventy-five years.
