Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Advanced Mammography Specialist is responsible for performing a range of mammography services, including both screening and diagnostic procedures, utilizing ionizing radiation to identify potential health issues. This role encompasses performing needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and seed implants (when available). The specialist will manage the imaging equipment to ensure optimal exposure and will process and organize images accordingly. Additionally, this position emphasizes the importance of delivering exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships.
Key Contributions to the Team:
+ Produces high-quality radiographs in accordance with procedural guidelines. Accurately documents patient history, employs suitable exposure techniques, and verifies patient identification and markers. Reviews prior examination reports to confirm areas of interest and assesses images for needle placement. Secures patient consent and discusses potential risks and complications, keeping the Radiologist informed of any relevant information.
+ Conducts needle localizations, stereotactic biopsies, and seed implants (if available).
+ Operates and maintains imaging equipment safely, adhering to all infection control protocols. Demonstrates knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) to safeguard against chemical, radiation, and biohazard exposure. Maintains all necessary documentation in compliance with MQSA and ACR regulations. Properly wears a Dosimeter badge and strives to minimize radiation exposure.
+ Executes a full spectrum of imaging procedures, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, as well as specialized techniques. Proficiently operates all imaging devices within the designated department. Utilizes age-specific knowledge and skills to perform safe and effective procedures on adult and geriatric patients. Enhances expertise through ongoing education and practical experience.
+ Shows a proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies and protocols, while also assisting in the development of colleagues' knowledge and skills.
Qualifications Required for Success:
+ Essential Qualifications:
+ One to three years of experience in Mammography.
+ At least one year of experience performing stereotactic core biopsies.
+ A minimum of one year of experience conducting breast needle localizations.
+ Valid Florida State License as a General Radiographer.
+ Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology.
+ ARRT certification in Mammography.
