Job OverviewPosition Summary:

The role encompasses a blend of clinical and research responsibilities, with a focus on enhancing patient care and advancing the field of speech language pathology. The successful candidate will dedicate approximately 40% of their time to clinical duties and 60% to research initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of essential materials and tools for conducting research studies.
  • Draft research protocols, informed consent documents, and funding proposals.
  • Design and manage databases for research purposes.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals, including clinicians, nurses, and statisticians, to ensure effective study execution.
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze data collected during research.
  • Contribute to preliminary data for grant applications and assist in writing research papers and reports.
  • Publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research outcomes at scientific conferences and meetings.
  • Coordinate research efforts with other investigators both on and off campus.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and critically engage with existing literature to foster new research projects.
  • Conduct patient evaluations and consultations, providing clear interpretations of results.
  • Communicate findings to patients and their families or caregivers.
  • Develop and implement tailored treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their support systems.
  • Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Document all evaluation procedures, results, diagnoses, and recommendations thoroughly.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance in specialized areas of expertise.
  • Work closely with physicians and other team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance skills.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship in Speech Language Pathology.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
  • Eligibility for an Ohio Speech-Language Pathology license.
  • Board certification as a specialist in swallowing (BCS-S) is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with demonstrated skills in quality and process improvement, effective communication, and strong organizational abilities.
