Job Summary

University Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for leading the development of research studies, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the growth of our research program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research Study Development: Lead the development of materials and tools necessary to execute research studies, including writing protocols, informed consent, and funding applications.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, medical staff, nurses, research assistants, and statisticians for the execution of studies.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Monitor and evaluate collected data, analyze data generated, and contribute to preliminary data for grant proposals.
  • Grant Writing and Publication: Support writing grant applications, research papers, reports, reviews, and summaries, and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Presentations and Conferences: Present research results in conferences and other scientific meetings.
  • Research Planning and Execution: Plan and execute research in collaboration with other investigators on and off campus.
  • Independent Work: Work independently, read and critically interpret the literature, and contribute to new projects.
  • Patient Care and Evaluation: Perform patient evaluations/consultations, interpret results, and provide results verbally to patients and/or family/caregivers.
  • Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop treatment plans in conjunction with patients and/or family/caregivers, implement treatment plans, and monitor progress on an ongoing basis.
  • Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide mentorship in the area(s) of expertise, collaborate with physicians and treatment team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes, and develop, attend, and participate in continuing education programs as required to maintain licensure and promote professional growth.
Qualifications
  • Education/Expertise: Ph.D. and completion of Clinical Fellowship in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Required Credentials, License, and/or Certifications: ASHA Certificate of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), ability to obtain an OH Speech-Language Pathology license, and Board certification specialist in swallowing (BCS-S) preferred.
  • Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience, quality and process improvement skills, written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills.
