Computed Tomography Technologist

Job Summary:
The Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is responsible for operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with physicians, patients, and other staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate CT equipment to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including basic and intermediate procedures.
- Position patients and select proper scanning factors to attain accurate images.
- Provide radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist.
- Assist in the proper scanning techniques and provide measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation.
- Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images.
- Prepare and maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies.
- Enter patient and study information into the radiology information system and document billing codes of procedures performed.
- Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluate new products and equipment.
Requirements:
- Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
- Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 18 months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Working Conditions:
The Computed Tomography Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards. The ideal candidate will be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
