The Registered Nurse - Specialty provides patient-centered care with a focus on cultural competence, employing evidence-based practices to ensure quality, safety, and service while addressing the unique needs of diverse patient populations.

The Registered Nurse - Specialty supervises nursing and allied health personnel in their daily responsibilities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responds promptly to incoming communications.
  • Regularly checks voicemails. If a call requires triage, the symptoms described will be evaluated to determine the necessary level of care.
  • Utilizes available resources and guidelines to assess, prioritize, advise, schedule, or refer calls to the appropriate medical provider or personnel.
  • Applies clinical expertise to assist the financial team in securing authorizations for treatments.
  • Evaluates assigned patients and documents nursing care, reporting any symptoms and changes in patients' conditions and vital signs.
  • Adjusts patient treatment plans based on responses, conditions, and physician directives.
  • Reviews and reports on diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding assigned patients to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, providing necessary support.
  • Considers patient age and cultural background during treatments and provides relevant information regarding treatment plans.
  • Fosters a compassionate environment by offering psychological support.
  • Conducts appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice.
  • Maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory standards, policies, and physician orders.
  • Communicates care plans in a timely manner to patients and families, as well as relevant team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilizes available resources to assist in discharge planning.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to achieve goals and deliver exceptional patient care; seeks assistance when necessary.
  • Safely operates medical equipment.
  • Acts as a preceptor and supports new staff in providing care to help them acclimate to the healthcare environment.
  • Adheres to organizational and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding institutional assets.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, with a Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred. RNs with an Associate's (ASN) degree must complete the BSN within two years of hire.
Certification and Licensing:
  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License, along with ACLS and BLS certifications from the American Heart Association are required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
