We are seeking a highly skilled Component Engineer to join our team at ABB. As a key member of our Electrification Smart Power division in North America, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compatibility of electrical and electronic components.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluation and testing: Assess the quality, reliability, and compatibility of different components through testing, analysis, and collaboration with engineering and suppliers.
- Knowledge Management: Develop guidelines and procedures on component selection, evaluate supplier change or EOL notification as needed, and maintain component data management systems.
- Supplier Integration & Management: Collaborate with P&L and quality to ensure suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements, resolve any issues related to component manufacturing, and identify potential alternative suppliers.
- Collaboration and communication: Work closely with engineering, P&L, quality, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth coordination and effective communication throughout.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronic preferred), with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques and process of electrical and electronic components like PCBAs, transformers, insulators, and IGBTs.
- Experience with evaluation and qualification of electrical/electronic component manufacturers.
- Ability to discuss designs with suppliers to optimize designs for manufacture and assess supplier capabilities.
- Ability to analyze material cost breakdowns and accuracy based on market values through strong analytical skills.
- Experience with SAP and/or Windchill PLM systems preferred.
- Knowledge of should costing model or process improvement tools and techniques (DFA, DFM, DtV) would be an additional advantage.
