Job SummaryThe Environmental Education Program Manager is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and delivering environmental education and service-learning programs for Parks & People, including the Branches daytime programs and the SuperKids Environmental Education Camp.
The Manager oversees environmental education staff, team leaders, and interns.
Key Responsibilities- Manage environmental education programs and workforce development
- Develop and select curriculum to deliver high-quality environmental education programs for elementary, middle, and high school youth
- Develop a workforce development program that includes college preparation and career development for high school youth, focusing on green careers and career pathways
- Create recruitment and program schedules
- Ensure that programs and selected curriculum are aligned with the organization's strategic plan
- Order and organize educational supplies and equipment
- Ensure that curriculum is being implemented according to the program plan; update program content as needed
- Collect and organize all evaluation data. Develop pre- and post-tests and other evaluation measures
- Assist the Grants Manager with all program-related reports
- Work with the Youth Programs Director to oversee program budgets
- Develop and maintain relationships with local school district teachers and administrators, organizations, and businesses necessary for recruitment, student development, and program delivery
- Provide on-site instruction for all programs
- Supervise staff to deliver interactive lessons, field research, and Baltimore City activities for youth
- Interview, hire, train, and evaluate environmental educators, team leaders, and interns
- Supervise the Site Enhancement Coordinator, environmental educators, team leaders, and interns
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field (biology, botany, etc.)
- Experience working with K-12 students in formal and informal educational settings
- Experience working with and/or managing a workforce development program
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work sites
- Responsible for evaluating daily operations success and staff effectiveness in program delivery; evaluating and adjusting staff training; evaluating program curriculum effectiveness and suggesting adjustments; resolving program logistics and supply delivery; coordinating excursions and service projects
- Excellent time management skills necessary to prioritize tasks and manage multiple concurrent activities often associated with deadlines
- Objectives and goals for the incumbent are established with the assistance of the Youth Programs Director. The incumbent works independently to develop means to achieve objectives
- By serving hundreds of youth annually through Parks & People's EE programs, the incumbent plays a significant role in ensuring high-quality programming, smooth operations, and strong community partnerships. Ultimately, the incumbent will be a critical part of Parks & People's vision to foster social, economic, and community development by uniting its diverse citizens and neighborhoods towards a common vision that benefits their families for generations through green spaces and education
