Job Title: Graphic Design Instructor

Madison Area Technical College is seeking a qualified Graphic Design Instructor to join our team. As a Graphic Design Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching courses in the Graphic Design program, developing curriculum, and assessing student learning.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach courses in Graphic Design, including Print and Production, Computer Graphics, Typography, and Graphic Design.
  • Develop and plan instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate.
  • Instruct students in classes and participate in college service activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Evaluate student performance in courses taught by the instructor.
  • Actively work with other personnel in student recruitment, retention, and job placement.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum in collaboration with department/division staff.
  • Participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
  • Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work-study assignments, team projects, etc.
  • Maintain certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.
  • Comply with all aspects of Board policies, work rules, and the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
  • Attend Division, department, and advisory committee meetings.
  • Develop strategies aimed at the retention of minority/female students.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
  • Design curriculum and instruct in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student and business needs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college values of excellence, respect, and integrity.
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by the President or designee.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Illustration or Graphic Design.
  • Five (5) years or 10,000 hours of professional experience (other than teaching) in Illustration, Graphic Design, or related field.
