Territory Sales Representative

This is an entry-level sales position for Stratas Foods, Foodservice. The primary role is to provide dedicated direct sales development support to food service operators. The person works in harmony with our broker organization, reporting to our Division Manager. The main priority is to conduct operator fry testing and product cuttings. The scope is to be a brand specialist, aiding our broker street sales teams and distributor sales reps. This person would also assist in regional and national account field support efforts on large fry test projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Identify operator targets to call on to sell our NB products DSM, with a focus on local and regional chain operators.
- Set up and monitor key operator fry tests and product samplings.
- Work alongside brokers to achieve assigned goals and objectives through direct selling support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors' street sales reps, aiming to become their Stratas National Brands leader in oils DSM products.
- Lead key operator sales growth through timely lead follow-up and fry test management, providing product solutions, market intelligence, and technical expertise that adds value for customers.
- Perform multiple tasks surrounding the business, including total fry test process management, salad dressing, sauces, mayo cuttings, BFO uses, and demonstrations, as well as knowledge in all our bakery shortenings.
- Learn effective selling techniques to maximize effectiveness, including product knowledge and skill enhancements.
- Support and direct one foodservice strategy, funneling commodity opportunities to distributors' brands managers and inside sales to achieve overall corporate goals and objectives.
- Be proficient in Salesforce.com for efficient opportunity management and customer relationship management, as well as perform administrative duties such as expense reports, contract management, and timely email response.
- Follow directives completely as outlined and report to the Division Manager.
- Travel up to 50% of the time within the assigned territory.
- Effective presentation skills are essential to ensure maximum performance.
- Strong foodservice background, food production, and sales experience are a plus.
- Understand business dynamics of selling propositions and defend ferociously, balancing cost vs. value effectively across the branded portfolio.
Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in Culinary, Food Marketing, or General Business related field.
Related Experience: Three (3) years of foodservice experience, including distributor sales, broker sales, and manufacturer sales.
Must be able to handle diversity of tasks and manage them effectively.
Equipment/Software Skills: Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Driver's License.
Additional InformationPhysical: Must be able to fly/drive to markets. No major exceptional physical requirements.
Sensory: Speech, Hearing, Vision, Smell, and Touch.
This position must be able to respond orally and in writing to common inquiries and complaints from customers and members of the business community. The position must be able to effectively present information to groups, individual customers, and associates from the top levels of management to the smallest of operators. The position must be able to listen effectively in order to understand and respond accordingly. The position must be able to smell and touch to work effectively in supporting evaluation of customer food initiatives and quality measurements.
Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to handle diversity of tasks and manage them effectively. Sending written correspondence to all interfacing aspects is critical to success.
