Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Judicial Liaison Specialist plays a crucial administrative role that necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the Florida Mental Health Act (Baker Act). Key responsibilities encompass the preparation and management of legal documents, participation in court proceedings, and serving as a communication bridge among various stakeholders related to Baker Act matters. This position operates under the guidance and supervision of the Provider Services & Baker Act Office Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and writing, with the ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Avatar.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License and dependable personal transportation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Organizing, distributing, and maintaining essential files, forms, reports, and notifications regarding consumers who are admitted, transferred, or discharged under BA-32, BA-52, and BA-01.
  • Preparing and submitting necessary documentation for consumers transitioning from involuntary to voluntary status, contingent upon the attending physician's assessment of imminent danger.
  • Utilizing knowledge of current Baker Act statutes and administrative regulations to advise Gracepoint staff as needed, while staying updated on legislative changes.
  • Acting as a liaison among internal and external entities involved with Baker Act issues, including HIM, DCF, local and state hospitals, and advocacy agencies.
  • Providing daily updates on expiration dates and times for all BA-52s to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Distributing tentative and final court dockets upon receipt from the Public Defender.
  • Ensuring timely provision of court orders received.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Adhering to all relevant federal, state, local, and organizational standards of compliance, ethics, and policies related to the administration and delivery of agency services.
  • Meeting established deadlines, requirements, and expectations set forth by supervisors and the agency.
  • Completing administrative tasks and data entry accurately and in a timely manner.
