Portland General Electric is seeking a highly skilled Grant Accountant to join our team. As a Grant Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting our strategic initiatives and investment plans. You will be responsible for designing accounting controls, processes, policies, and financial reporting in compliance with Federal Grant Program Specific Audits and other programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting Analysis: Independently provide a full range of accounting and general business analytical support, including the application of complex accounting concepts.
  • Accounting Research: Research, document, and communicate complex issues and analyze the downstream and upstream impacts of transactional decisions to develop recommendations.
  • Financial Reporting: Provide independent support for all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, leading the team to resolve complex issues and finalize exhibits.
  • Compliance: Perform control activities to ensure compliance with internal control policies and review and evaluate the compliance process to determine if the organization is being responsive to the needs of PGE.
  • Internal Consulting: Advise leadership on a broad range of accounting decisions and methodologies and work with cross-functional teams to respond to routine and complex management requests.
  • Budget Support: Develop complex budget forecasts and assist in researching/resolving escalated issues.
Requirements
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically, five or more years in related field.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • Experience with Federal Grant compliance is preferred.
Competencies
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles and concepts, including GAAP and regulatory accounting theory and practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Federal Grant compliance.
  • Working knowledge of other accounting disciplines, such as tax.
  • Intermediate knowledge of internal controls, including the requirements of SOX.
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting and finance business processes and policies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of related financial systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of relevant utility industry operations and financial regulations.
