About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Specialist - Tech Writer to join our team in Bethesda, MD. As a key member of our Intelligence Community (IC) program, you will support Government staff in developing and preparing a range of products, including finished intelligence products, strategy and planning documents, talking points, and speeches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Editing: Lead communication support for the ODNI, including the development, preparation, production, coordination, and editing of products.
  • Assignment Preparation: Prepare assignments based on input from subject matter experts.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Content Creation: Utilize tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud suite to create compelling content.
  • Request Management: Utilize request management tools such as NarQuest to provide swift, high-quality customer support for communications requests.
  • Product Development: Provide support by researching, proofreading, editing, creating, writing, processing, revising, formatting, providing quality checks, and coordinating the composition of products for hardcopy and electronic publication, as well as dissemination on multiple platforms.
  • Documentation and Editing: Ensure documentation and editing support includes checks for accuracy and consistency in organization, style, readability, and accessibility based on the medium.
  • Communication Materials: Draft and edit a variety of communication materials and products, including but not limited to talking points, speeches, quotes, remarks, leadership communications, marketing copy, newsletter content, website content, and other communications products.
  • Fact Sheets and Pamphlets: Serve as the primary author on fact sheets, pamphlets, website content, articles, email messaging, and other communications products, as needed.
  • Speeches and Scripts: Prepare and edit speeches or scripts for senior executives for live or recorded delivery, testimony, and statements for Congressional Record.
  • Complex Information: Convey complex information in a clear and simple manner.
  • Tradecraft and Publication Standards: Ensure all products are consistent with tradecraft and publication standards.
  • Leadership Support: Advise and coach leadership on the presentation and delivery of speeches.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 18+ years of experience, a Master's degree and 10+ years of experience, or no degree with 24+ years of experience.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance is required up front.
