Job Overview

Universal Stainless is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily management of personnel performing final dimension of bar products, packaging bar, rod and wire products, scheduling customer deliveries, purchasing, freight and loading product for delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and supervisory experience, with a focus on quality control and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality policies and practices.
  • Determine product quality and decide proper disposition of material.
  • Establish and enforce first-class standards of housekeeping.
  • Plan and operate manufacturing processes to produce high-quality products according to schedules.
  • Maximize yields at lowest cost while meeting quality standards.
  • Review production reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems.
  • Develop and revise standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with quality standards and order requirements.
  • Train department personnel and initiate personnel actions as needed.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis to determine failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and control systems are maintained in a condition to safely and cost-effectively produce quality products.

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate - minimum
  • AS or BS in Engineering preferred
  • 5 years of front-line supervisory experience in a line manufacturing role
  • Experience with stainless steel and specialty alloys desirable

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving ability
