Rail Services Warranty Engineer

The role of Warranty Engineer is currently available in Maryland.


Position Overview

The ideal candidate will oversee the Rail Services operations and personnel at the designated site, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting interviews, hiring, and training staff.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing daily tasks.
  • Evaluating employee performance and managing rewards and disciplinary actions.
  • Addressing employee grievances and resolving issues.

Functional Responsibilities

Manage daily operations at the Rail Services facility, ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness.

Key duties involve:

  • Overseeing monthly reports related to project engineering, warranty, materials, and budgetary matters.
  • Coordinating site setup with necessary manpower, machinery, and materials.
  • Understanding contract requirements for site setup and commissioning.
  • Providing technical training to stakeholders as needed.
  • Testing vehicle functionality and troubleshooting train systems using a laptop.
  • Managing the Maintenance Management System at the site.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing local customer feedback.
  • Building relationships with suppliers to resolve warranty and technical issues.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.

The candidate must be proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.

Experience with Power (TCMS and Traction) and Knorr-Bremse (Brakes, Doors, and HVAC) systems is highly desirable.

Prior experience in the rail after-market field, maintenance, or overhaul in a warranty capacity is essential.

Training will be provided at operational facilities.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

The candidate should be a self-starter, capable of resolving technical issues independently or coordinating solutions with engineering support.

Experience in warranty returns, spare part requisitions, store management, and logistics control is ideal.

Strong interpersonal skills to engage with customers at various organizational levels are essential.

Technical knowledge of essential rail components and systems, along with hands-on experience, is advantageous.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.


The salary range for this position is competitive, reflecting the diverse factors considered in compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, and organizational needs.

The estimated salary range is between $120,000 and $135,000.
