Job Summary

The Bus Monitor is a vital member of our transportation team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of program children. As a Bus Monitor, you will work closely with the Bus Driver to maintain a positive and safe environment on the bus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure children are properly secured in their seats using age/weight appropriate child restraint systems.
  • Assist children with loading and unloading from the bus, promoting a smooth and efficient process.
  • Verify the release of children to authorized individuals, maintaining the highest level of security and safety.
  • Collaborate with the Bus Driver to maintain accurate route information and assist substitute drivers as needed.
  • Manage and maintain a backpack with essential items, including a medication log, name tags, seating chart, and Child Plus forms.
  • Engage children with age-appropriate activities, such as songs, games, and music, to promote a positive and enjoyable experience.
  • Work with the Bus Driver to maintain the cleanliness of the bus and equipment, adhering to transportation policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proof of MMR vaccination.
  • Ability to pass a CORI/DCF background check, including fingerprinting.
  • One year of child monitoring experience preferred.
