Primary Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive Activity Therapy assessments for all assigned clients, ensuring timely interactions to evaluate individual capabilities, motivations, and preferences.
2. Engage in Master Treatment planning, contributing insights for treatment plan revisions and documenting behavioral observations in the Therapeutic Progress section of monthly updates.
3. Facilitate therapeutic recreation and expressive therapy sessions as per the unit schedule, ensuring group interventions align with Treatment Plan goals and effectively managing group dynamics for optimal therapeutic outcomes.
4. Model and deliver group facilitation training, leading activities with intentional therapeutic objectives.
5. Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment by organizing the activity therapy space, minimizing risks, and overseeing the maintenance of equipment used in experiential activities.
6. Support departmental objectives by providing and receiving constructive feedback, maintaining professional boundaries, and adapting behavior based on feedback.
7. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary leadership team to uphold rules and expectations, communicating activity plans in advance and addressing concerns to enhance the therapeutic environment.
8. Document progress accurately in Weekly Progress toward Treatment Objectives and Recreation Specialist Weekly Progress Notes for all assigned clients in a timely manner.
9. Complete annual training to fulfill State licensing requirements, maintain Wilderness First Responder certification, and enhance skills for Wilderness and Adventure programming.
10. Oversee personnel management activities related to direct staff supervision, including recruitment, orientation, training, performance management, and employee relations.
11. Lead the internship program for recreation specialists, serving as the site coordinator and defining intern responsibilities and evaluation criteria.
12. Provide ongoing training for program staff to enhance resident engagement and therapeutic outcomes.
13. Facilitate the development, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement of recreation programs.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
Clinical Expertise: A bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, social work, humanities, or a related therapeutic discipline. Licensure: State of Alaska CTRS preferred. Therapeutic Skills: Proficiency in delivering psychotherapeutic services. Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.What We Provide:
