Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Automation Specialist will be integral to the design, execution, and upkeep of automated systems aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, dependability, and productivity. This role will involve collaboration with various teams to pinpoint automation opportunities and deploy solutions that elevate overall performance at Joy Baking Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement automated systems and processes tailored to project specifications.
  • Collaborate with teams across Operations, Engineering, Safety, IT, and Quality Assurance to establish and sustain automated solutions.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather business requirements and convert them into technical specifications for automation projects.
  • Remain informed about industry advancements, technologies, and best practices in automation.
  • Initiate and execute continuous improvement projects to refine automation processes.
  • Write, test, and maintain code for automation scripts and applications.
  • Employ programming languages and scripting tools to automate repetitive tasks and enhance workflow efficiency.
  • Integrate automated systems with current infrastructure and applications.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing of automated solutions to ensure functionality, reliability, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Quickly identify and address issues related to automated systems.
  • Perform regular maintenance to guarantee the ongoing smooth operation of automated processes.
  • Create detailed documentation for automation processes, including design specifications, code documentation, and user manuals.
  • Update documentation as necessary to reflect changes and enhancements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical information and mathematical concepts, drawing valid conclusions.
  • Proficient in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and deriving valid conclusions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage projects effectively to completion.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in utilizing automation tools and software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical capability to navigate various areas of the facility.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in automation engineering or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation is advantageous.
  • Experience with PLC programming is beneficial.
  • Certification in automation or a related field is a plus.
