About the Role

Civitas Resources is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship to lead our efforts in reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices across all aspects of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives aimed at reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainability.
  • Regularly interface with our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team for carbon accounting and other sustainability-related matters.
  • Execute annual ESG duties, including project lead in preparation of SASB disclosures, accounting, planning, and execution of appropriate offset purchases, and project lead in preparation of the annual Civitas Corporate Sustainability Report.
  • Lead a broad spectrum of ESG major projects and participate in the negotiation of commercial terms.
  • Work closely with our Field Operations team to clarify their organization's point of view and integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of our operations.
  • Manage the sustainability department budget and lead the development of comprehensive sustainability and decarbonization strategies aligned with our goals and values.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of our current environmental impacts and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements related to sustainability and decarbonization.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and employees, to foster a culture of sustainability and integrate sustainable practices into all aspects of our organization.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, NGOs, suppliers, and customers, to advance sustainability initiatives and partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards at local, national, and international levels.
  • Develop and implement internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to support sustainable practices and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Identify opportunities for reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency throughout our operations.
  • Implement strategies to transition to renewable energy sources and promote the adoption of clean technologies.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to carbon emissions, energy consumption, and renewable energy usage.
  • Work closely with our procurement and supply chain teams to assess and enhance the sustainability of our supply chain.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to promote ethical sourcing, reduce waste, and optimize transportation logistics.
  • Conduct regular environmental impact assessments to evaluate our carbon footprint, water usage, waste generation, and other relevant metrics.
  • Prepare and publish sustainability reports detailing our progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness and transparency regarding our sustainability efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in sustainability management, with a focus on decarbonization and environmental stewardship.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a demonstrated history of project management success.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a desire to learn all aspects of the emerging and constantly evolving ESG discipline.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, carbon accounting methodologies, and sustainable business practices.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability strategies in a corporate setting.
  • Certification in sustainability (e.g., LEED, ISO) is a plus.
