The Structural Engineering team at SMRT Inc. plays a crucial role in the design and execution of our projects from the initial concept through to construction. This role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary project team to create high-quality designs that fulfill the client's vision. For candidates with consulting engineering or A/E office experience, there is an opportunity to work independently from any of our office locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare structural calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents, as well as develop analysis models.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with team members, architects, vendors, contractors, and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of structural building systems, including concrete, masonry, structural steel, and mass timber, and accurately document these systems in drawing packages.
  • Conduct site investigations to assess existing conditions.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Show a proven ability to manage multiple deadlines across various projects.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.
What We Offer

  • A flexible work environment.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, and community service, starting at 6 weeks.
  • Comprehensive healthcare, dental, and life insurance benefits.
  • A 401(k) retirement savings plan with automatic company contributions.
  • Support for education and training.
  • Reimbursement for licensure expenses.

We foster an open culture that values listening, communication, and knowledge sharing. Our team thrives on collegiality, individual and collective energy, leadership, and innovation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (minimum).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an A/E consulting or multi-disciplinary office environment.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., RISA, RAM, Tekla) and computer-aided design software, particularly Revit and AutoCAD.
