Mechanical Engineer II

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you'll play a critical role in designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware for our suborbital rocket system, New Shepard.
Key Responsibilities:- Investigate root cause and disposition hardware discrepancies in New Shepard's actuated systems.
- Author specifications and procedures for design, production, and maintenance efforts.
- Train for and participate in operations support during missions.
- Assist in the identification and implementation of design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational costs.
- Support vehicle managers in assessing technical risk at mission readiness reviews.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience with designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware.
- Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred).
- Basic proficiency in structural analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred).
- Ability to communicate detailed technical recommendations to resolve discrepancies and anomalies.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- 5+ years of experience with designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware.
- Familiarity with typical aerospace hydraulic standards and best practices.
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
- Hands-on experience with machining, building, testing, and maintaining mechanical components and systems.
