About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our New Shepard program, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our reusable suborbital rocket system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support planned maintenance and resolution of technical discrepancies on New Shepard Crew Capsule Mechanical Systems
  • Work closely with vehicle managers and maintenance team to assure vehicle flight readiness and troubleshoot critical issues
  • Author and review maintenance procedures to ensure robust and repeatable work
  • Collaborate with design team and suppliers to propose and support design improvement activity
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience with operating and diagnosing mechanical systems
  • Experience with configuration management, nonconforming material review, and disposition of discrepant hardware
  • Solid understanding of common metallic and composite materials, surface treatments, and fasteners
  • Excellent digital literacy and ability to rapidly learn and use software tools
  • Strong coordination and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of proven experience with operating and diagnosing mechanical systems
  • Experience with separation systems, energetics, parachute systems, or other mechanical systems
  • Experience with Failure and Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience with non-destructive analysis methods
