About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our New Shepard program, you will be responsible for designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate root cause and disposition hardware discrepancies on and off our human spaceflight vehicles.
  • Author specifications and procedures for design, production, and maintenance efforts.
  • Train for and participate in operations support during missions.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of design changes to improve system reliability and reduce operational costs.
  • Support vehicle managers in assessing technical risk at mission readiness reviews.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware.
  • Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred).
  • Basic proficiency in structural analysis including hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred).
  • Ability to communicate detailed technical recommendations to resolve discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with designing, operating, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and hardware.
  • Familiarity with typical aerospace hydraulic standards and best practices.
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
  • Hands-on experience with machining, building, testing, and maintaining mechanical components and systems.
