Position Overview:
The Medical Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering clinical services aligned with radiology standards, ensuring optimal functionality within the department. Key responsibilities include:
- Exhibiting proficiency in operating all x-ray equipment and executing various x-ray protocols and procedures.
- Producing high-quality imaging results efficiently while adhering to procedural timelines.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of PACS and collaborating with Radiologists to assess important anatomical details and abnormalities.
- Ensuring patient safety by confirming identity and relevant details prior to procedures.
- Providing compassionate patient care, effectively communicating to gather clinical histories and obtaining informed consent.
- Explaining procedures to patients and their families, addressing any concerns to alleviate anxiety.
- Identifying and addressing clinical or urgent issues that may affect imaging outcomes.
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety in equipment and work areas, performing regular inspections for hazards.
- Participating in quality control and performance improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate's degree or equivalent certification in Radiologic Technology from an accredited institution.
Licensure/Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and an active license or temporary permit from the Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners. Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is also required.
