Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain medical history, triage patients, and record vital signs.
  • Reconcile medication lists in the electronic health record.
  • Respond timely and appropriately to tasks and requests.
  • Administer injections per physician order, including Hepatitis A&B, PPD, and flu vaccine.
  • Report any abnormal results to the physician immediately.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms.
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required.
  • Medical Assisting certification from a nationally recognized organization required.
  • Medical Assisting degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office preferred.
  • Experience with electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection procedures.
  • Certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of healthcare field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
  • Skills in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
  • Skills in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Abilities to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Abilities to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Abilities to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
  • Abilities to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others.
