Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate FT DV Specialist to join our team at YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. As a key member of our crisis support team, you will provide emotional support, resources, and safety planning to individuals affected by domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and Respond to Crisis Situations: Evaluate the needs of callers and develop transportation plans to ensure safe shelter and support.
  • Provide Supportive Interactions: Offer emotional support and information on domestic violence dynamics to shelter residents.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Document resident behaviors, incidents, interactions, and progress in a confidential and consistent manner.
  • Conduct Intake and Orientation: Welcome new residents, provide essential information, and facilitate safety planning.
  • Monitor Building Status: Ensure the physical environment is safe and secure, reporting any malfunctions or concerns.
  • Identify and Address Barriers: Recognize obstacles to success for clients and make referrals to relevant resources.
  • Manage Conflict and Security: Intervene in conflicts and secure the physical environment to ensure resident safety.
  • Develop Understanding of Agency Policies: Familiarize yourself with YWCA policies and procedures, interpreting and implementing them as needed.
  • Manage Holiday Coverage: Coordinate rotating holiday residential coverage to ensure seamless support.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of six months related experience required. Bachelor's degree in counseling or a related mental health field preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively, tolerate varying noise levels, and move throughout the building. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish or other languages preferred.
  • Skill Competencies: Ability to react calmly in crisis situations, communicate effectively, demonstrate compassion, and exercise sound judgment.
