POSITION SUMMARY

The individual in this role will be responsible for preparing, cooking, serving, and maintaining cleanliness in work and dining areas, along with other tasks as directed by the supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist in the setup, serving, and cleaning of designated stations.
  2. Receive, prepare, and serve orders to guests.
  3. Handle various cooking techniques including stir-frying, sautéing, and grilling, as required for the assigned station.
  4. Prepare daily specials, which may include heating pre-prepared items or convenience foods.
  5. Ensure proper merchandising and signage for the assigned station.
  6. Greet patrons, verify IDs, and process sales transactions using the POS system.
  7. Restock display cases and refrigerators as needed.
  8. Maintain cleanliness of beverage machines and ensure availability of utensils.
  9. Uphold the cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables and chairs.
  10. Sort and replenish silverware and maintain a supply of clean dishes.
  11. Perform dishwashing duties, including scraping and proper storage of items.
  12. Maintain cleanliness of all equipment and storage areas.
  13. Assist in food production across various areas of Dining Services as assigned.
  14. Participate in special events and catering as needed.
  15. Manage laundry duties when assigned.
  16. Ensure compliance with NYS Liquor Authority regulations when serving alcoholic beverages.
  17. Monitor and record food temperatures throughout service.
  18. Clean and maintain all service equipment and utensils.
  19. Test new recipes as requested.
  20. Adhere to NYS Health Codes in food preparation and storage.
  21. Engage with supervisors regarding additional duties as necessary.
  22. Maintain a commitment to learning and professional development.
  23. Demonstrate effective communication skills with supervisors, customers, and colleagues.
  24. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  25. Provide a high level of customer service at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with six months of relevant work experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operational manuals.

MATH SKILLS

Proficiency in basic math skills relevant to culinary measurements and financial transactions.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS

Serv-Safe/HACCP certification is required within one year of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires regular standing, walking, and lifting of up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities are necessary for the tasks involved.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees may be exposed to various environmental conditions including wet or humid areas and fluctuating temperatures.
