Key Responsibilities:

This role presents unique and stimulating challenges due to the diverse range of products within Masco's portfolio. You will collaborate with various motivated technical leaders across the organization to develop new offerings and enhance existing product lines. This will involve creating relevant testing methodologies, analyzing data, and communicating findings to stakeholders throughout our enterprise. As part of our team, you will also contribute to managing ISO 17025 category accreditations with external entities and work within our quality management system to support these accreditations. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing your laboratory equipment and ensuring a tidy and organized workspace.

Primary Duties:

  • Collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers at Masco R&D to deliver technical support and consulting services to Masco operating companies.
  • Implement various testing strategies related to polymeric materials and surface finishes utilizing laboratory testing equipment.
  • Work with operating companies to enhance existing product lines through improvements in manufacturing processes and material selection.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis to address manufacturing and field issues associated with polymers.
  • Prepare and document technical reports outlining findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure a clean and safe laboratory environment, adhering to good laboratory practices and recordkeeping.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to guarantee precise testing outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in materials science, chemistry, polymer science, or related disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) is essential.
  • Experience with thermal analysis techniques such as TGA, DSC, DMA is required.
  • Familiarity with mechanical testing equipment like tensile machines, impact testers, and melting flow index is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Salt Spray testing procedures is advantageous.
  • Experience with accelerated weathering methods, including QUV and Xenon Arc testing procedures and equipment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with color measurement techniques is beneficial.
  • Understanding of environmental testing, including weathering resistance and chemical resistance, is desirable.
  • Knowledge of government regulations and EPA testing methods is a plus.
  • Experience in new product development is advantageous.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Skilled in translating scientific test results into clear presentations for non-technical audiences.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10% to support collaborative initiatives and attend industry events.

Compensation: $53,000 - $84,480. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and skills.
