Position Overview:
The CNC Machining Specialist is tasked with the comprehensive layout, fixturing, and programming of advanced CNC lathes and 3-5 axis milling machines within a dynamic team setting.

This role involves managing the daily operations of our CNC machining centers and lathes to fulfill production timelines and the swift prototyping needs of our Research and Development department.

Collaboration with both manufacturing and R&D teams is essential to drive ongoing enhancements in production and quality processes.

Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:

  • Provide machining expertise for the creation of components ranging from miniature to large sizes.
  • Interpret complex drawings, prototype sketches, electronic files, and verbal instructions to facilitate the manufacturing of parts and assemblies through CNC programming.
  • Select appropriate tooling and fixturing.
  • Work closely with design engineers to enhance the manufacturability of components.
  • Implement improvements in shop efficiency through design, programming, tooling, and fixturing optimizations.
  • Produce high-precision parts and demonstrate the ability to write and troubleshoot machine programs.
  • Recommend and execute cost reduction strategies for both new and existing projects.
  • Stay informed about new machining technologies and investigate state-of-the-art equipment to maintain our shop's competitive edge.
  • Provide labor and material estimates based on supplied drawings, electronic files, and blueprints.
  • Exhibit a fundamental understanding of CAD software such as SolidWorks.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in GibbsCAM using 3D models imported from SolidWorks.
  • Work independently and effectively troubleshoot unplanned issues as they arise.

Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of 5-7 years in a machining environment is required.

Education:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary, along with relevant certifications or trade school experience being a significant advantage.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Applicants should possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of CNC Lathes and both Vertical and Horizontal Milling.
  • The ability to program complex tasks on 4+ axis machinery.
  • Experience with Haas, Fanuc, and Okuma controls.
  • A solid understanding of manual programming (G codes/M codes).
  • Familiarity with DNC systems.
  • Capability to fabricate precision tools and fixturing.
  • Experience in machining tight tolerances and complex geometries.
  • A strong grasp of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
  • Programming experience with multi-tasking machines is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks is essential.
  • GibbsCAM experience is mandatory.
  • Adherence to high-quality standards.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in all areas of MS Office.
