The Integrated Engineering Design (IED) group at Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec, delivers comprehensive engineering solutions to a diverse range of clients, including institutional, industrial, residential, and commercial sectors. Our expertise spans transit, telecommunications, waste management, higher education, and food and beverage facilities, ensuring reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all stages of commissioning projects, which may involve complex planning, scheduling, and coordination.
  • Conduct engineering design evaluations, prepare commissioning scripts and reports, oversee client-site testing, and manage on-site staff training.
  • Develop equipment pre-start-up and start-up protocols.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Methods of Procedures (MOPs), along with comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Formulate commissioning test procedures and reports.
  • Maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and other tools to monitor project progress.
  • Compile detailed reports and recommendations for optimizing building operations, including functional checklists and equipment operation manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submissions, and other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in commissioning activity meetings.
  • Collaborate with construction contractors, vendors, and testing technicians.
  • Conduct tests and compile results from all testing procedures.
  • Integrate system testing, including Load Bank Testing, and compile all testing results.
  • Develop and implement functional tests for various building MEP systems, such as HVAC systems, pumps, cooling towers, chillers, boilers, UPS, generators, and power distribution units.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering service delivery organization or consulting/design environment, with proven expertise in MEP systems.
  • Experience in Data Center or Mission Critical environments is preferred.
  • Prior experience on a mission-critical facility construction site is advantageous.
  • A Technical/Technologist Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Licensure as a PE or EIT in Electrical Discipline is a plus.
  • LEED AP accreditation is desirable.
  • Certifications such as CXA, AABC, or ACG are preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as this role involves significant documentation and client interaction.
  • High proficiency in technical writing and systems development is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AutoCAD is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems and controls design, installation, and operation is a plus.
  • This position may require domestic and international travel.
  • A proven track record in commissioning planning, functional testing, building performance investigation, including re-commissioning, retro-commissioning, and building system troubleshooting for both new and existing structures is essential.
