POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Marine Operations Technician is responsible for executing operational tasks related to emergency response for hazardous and non-hazardous spill clean-up projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

This role encompasses various marine service activities, including pre-booming, Average Most Probable Discharge (AMPD) services, line-handling, preventative maintenance, and basic equipment repairs, along with participation in spill response training exercises.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. **Safety First:** Uphold health and safety as the primary objective by adhering to established policies and procedures, always acting in a safe manner.
2. **Team Support:** Assist colleagues on projects by performing physically demanding tasks in potentially challenging environments and varying weather conditions.
3. **Equipment Operation:** Deploy and operate various equipment related to marine services, emergency spill response, and industrial cleaning, including workboats, skimmers, pumps, and cranes.
4. **Logistics Management:** Load and unload equipment and materials from vessels and vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
5. **Marine Knowledge:** Apply basic seamanship and marine safety principles in daily operations.
6. **Documentation:** Complete necessary paperwork to comply with regulations, including logbooks and inspections.
7. **Maintenance Duties:** Conduct inventory and maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure operational readiness.
8. **Additional Tasks:** Perform other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of marine engines, outboard motors, and hydraulic systems is advantageous. The ability to diagnose common equipment malfunctions and proficiency with hand tools is essential.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification or the ability to obtain it post-hire is required.
