Position Overview:

OBJECTIVE:

This role is designed as a developmental opportunity for individuals pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The selected candidate will gain practical experience by offering technical assistance to the engineering team and participating in the assembly and evaluation of prototype products.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement testing protocols for new mechanical systems.
  • Design and construct testing apparatus.
  • Produce engineering schematics under the guidance of a senior hardware engineer.
  • Assemble prototypes, generate bills of materials, and collaborate with production on assembly guidelines.
  • Exhibit inclusivity through actions and communication, ensuring a safe working environment. Approach tasks with kindness, curiosity, and respect for colleagues.
  • Be receptive to integrating Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles into daily activities.
  • Comprehend and adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards relevant to our operations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of at least one year of coursework towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Self-motivated individual with a proven history of initiative.
  • Capability to manage multiple and shifting priorities.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (preferably AutoCAD).
  • Competence in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior relevant work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to observe and assess equipment and processes for proper functionality and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Capacity to operate in a production setting alongside automated machinery.
  • Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.
  • Capability to function in a laboratory setting with chemical, biological, and packaging materials.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to position oneself in low stances.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to transport materials between different locations.
