Position Overview:

TEAM STRUCTURE:

The Process Engineering division consists of a diverse group of Process and Automation Engineers, each bringing unique industry insights and varying levels of experience.

This division also welcomes several Process Engineering Interns annually, who work collaboratively with the team and other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, industrial, and packaging.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will assist in daily operations, support ongoing improvement projects, and contribute to capital initiatives.

Your experience will encompass design, procurement, commissioning, validation of equipment, troubleshooting, and collaboration with various teams within Promega.


QUALIFICATIONS:

We seek a proactive individual with strong communication abilities and a proven track record of working effectively in cross-functional teams to meet departmental and organizational goals.

Experience in a regulated environment is advantageous. A solid grounding in process engineering principles and problem-solving skills is essential.

OBJECTIVE:

Utilize engineering methodologies and techniques to assist with the ongoing projects and responsibilities of the Promega Engineering division.



PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Equipment Assessment – Conduct trials on process equipment, either in real-time or using prototype systems.
  • Component Development – Design and fabricate parts as necessary for testing setups and implementation of equipment enhancements.
  • Project Support – Provide assistance with documentation and tasks related to engineering projects as needed.
  • Process Optimization – Analyze and evaluate current manufacturing processes for continuous improvement in reliability, cost-effectiveness, throughput, capability, efficiency, workflow, and overall resource utilization.
  • Proactive Issue Resolution – Identify equipment performance and process challenges, proposing timely solutions or recommendations to management.
  • Compliance – Understand and adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards relevant to our operations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Deliver updates during various project team meetings.
  • Present project findings to a team of engineers.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher in a BS program in Chemical, Bioprocess, or a related engineering field with a focus on Bioprocessing. Completion of an introductory course in Chemical Engineering is required prior to the start of the internship.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to contribute to the team.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior work or laboratory experience is beneficial; previous engineering internship experience is a plus but not mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capability to work in a laboratory setting with chemical and biological materials.
  • Ability to observe and inspect equipment and processes for proper operation and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment alongside automated machinery.
  • Ability to work in an office setting utilizing a computer workstation.
