Job Overview

Position Summary

This role is essential in aiding our project execution team throughout the various phases of construction projects. The individual will collaborate closely with clients, engineering and architectural leads, project management personnel, and legal advisors. Direction will be provided by the leadership of the project execution team. Key responsibilities encompass the following:

Preconstruction and Procurement Duties

  • Identify and evaluate subcontractors and vendors for critical project bid packages.
  • Guide design teams in defining package scope breakdowns that align with labor capabilities at project sites.
  • Oversee the prequalification process for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Enhance the existing prequalification process for better efficiency.
  • Facilitate contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors in collaboration with project management and legal teams.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with preferred subcontractors and vendors.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams to ensure unit costs reflect current market conditions.
  • Monitor, manage, and negotiate volume discounts and integrator-OEM pricing.
  • Work alongside project management to establish procurement schedules that align with project timelines.
  • Assist project and construction management in addressing underperforming subcontractors and vendors.
  • Explore options for engaging additional subcontractors to mitigate delays or replace underperforming ones.
  • Conduct 'Lessons Learned' sessions with clients and key subcontractors to foster relationships and enhance work processes.
  • Collaborate with project and construction management to refine subcontractor work completion tracking methods.

Construction and Post-Construction Duties

  • Support project and construction management in managing subcontractors and vendors that are not meeting performance expectations.
  • Identify additional subcontractor options to assist with delayed work or to substitute underperforming subcontractors.
  • Facilitate 'Lessons Learned' discussions with clients and key subcontractors to strengthen relationships and improve operational processes.
  • Work with project and construction management to enhance tracking processes for subcontractor work completion.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in procurement related to capital projects is advantageous.
  • Ability to analyze purchase orders and contracts effectively.
  • Familiarity with engineering and architectural drawings and technical specifications is preferred.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
  • Exposure to construction site hazards and varying weather conditions when on-site.
  • Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels on construction sites.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for project site visits and other office locations.
